02 — THE DRUG THAT LASTS FOR DAYS
CJC-1295 Raised Hormones but Proved No Health Gain
Makers added a hook that grips a blood protein. Short tests found lasting rises in growth hormone and IGF-1, not proof that people felt better.
Short tests found higher hormones, not better health
Drug researchers made CJC-1295 to keep the brain's natural growth-hormone message going longer, using 29 amino acids that your body also uses to build proteins and changing four of them. The DAC form has a hook that grips albumin, a common blood protein. DAC is simply the label for that longer-lasting form.
In healthy adults, one shot beneath the skin raised growth hormone for six or more days. IGF-1, a growth protein made by the liver, rose for 9 to 11 days. After more shots, IGF-1 stayed above its old level for up to 28 days [3]. The shorter CJC-1295 form lacks the blood-protein hook.
CJC-1295 isn't approved medicine for people. WADA, the world sport drug-testing body, bans it under its growth-hormone rule called Section S2. This page gives you study facts, not a dose or advice for your care.
The blood-protein hook makes the DAC form last
CJC-1295 copies a natural hormone message made of 29 amino acids. Its makers changed four pieces so blood would break it down more slowly. The paper marks the changed spots as 2, 8, 15, and 27. Those are map positions in the message, not amounts, and they don't predict what you would feel.
The DAC form adds a hook that bonds with albumin. Albumin is a protein that carries many things in your blood. Once joined, the drug stays in blood much longer [4].
The no-DAC form keeps the four changes but has no hook. Half leaves in tens of minutes rather than days. The two forms don't act alike in blood, so the form named in a claim matters.
A 2025 medical review says these copies can raise growth hormone. It also says their possible uses and long-term effects still need study [8]. That helped me separate a blood change from a health benefit.

Natural hormone bursts continued during the short test
CJC-1295 prompts the growth gland to put growth hormone into blood. That hormone tells the liver to make IGF-1, a growth protein named insulin-like growth factor 1.
Four findings explain why CJC-1295 lasts longer than the body's own message:
- Four changed pieces slow its breakdown in blood.
- After a shot beneath the skin, the DAC hook joins albumin and carries the drug for days.
- In rats, the DAC form brought about four times as much growth hormone over two hours. Joined drug was still present after 72 hours [4].
- Healthy 20- to 40-year-old men kept the usual count and size of hormone bursts. CJC-1295 raised the lowest reading 7.5-fold, while the average rose about 46%. The first figure compares low points; the second uses every reading, so they needn't match. IGF-1 rose about 45% one week later [11].
The natural bursts continued in this short test. That doesn't tell you what years of use would do or whether your health would improve.
The human work was brief and measured blood
The later review covered the whole drug group. A 2025 medical review explains why longer-lasting copies were made. It also describes changes in growth hormone and IGF-1 while saying their uses and safety still need more study [8].
The main CJC-1295 test used healthy adults. One shot under the skin held 30 or 60 micrograms for each kilogram of body weight. Growth hormone rose for 6 or more days. IGF-1 rose for 9 to 11 days. Half of CJC-1295 left blood in 5.8 to 8.1 days. After more shots, IGF-1 stayed high for up to 28 days [3]. Nobody tested whether people felt better.
The reason for the long stay came from rats. The DAC hook on CJC-1295 brought four times as much growth hormone over two hours. Drug joined to albumin was still present after 72 hours [4].
The usual burst pattern stayed in young men. Men aged 20–40 kept the same count and size of growth-hormone bursts. The low reading rose about 7.5-fold. The average rose 46%, and IGF-1 rose 45% one week later [11].
Another test found changes in blood proteins. Eleven healthy young men had some proteins fall and others rise after CJC-1295. As IGF-1 changed, some of those proteins changed too [10]. The test didn't show whether that helped or harmed the men.
An unlabeled vial raised a separate worry. A lab found CJC-1295 in a seized vial by a very exact chemical test [9]. The result shows what that vial held. It can't prove that any unmarked supply is pure or safe.
Long-term harm is still unknown
CJC-1295 kept growth hormone and IGF-1 high for days. That same blood change makes these open risks matter to you.
- Blood sugar. Growth hormone can weaken insulin and raise sugar before breakfast. A review calls this the main worry for drugs of this kind. With CJC-1295, growth hormone and IGF-1 stay high for days [2].
- Water, joints, and nerves. Too much growth hormone may leave extra salt and water in your body, making soft tissue swell, joints hurt, and a wrist nerve feel pinched; those effects fit the rise in growth hormone and IGF-1 [2][3].
- Cancer. IGF-1 helps cells grow. Higher blood levels have been linked with some cancers, but that doesn't prove CJC-1295 causes cancer. The long rise still calls for care.
- Pharmacy mixing. In 2024, a group that advises FDA on drugs mixed by local pharmacies raised worries about immune reactions, impurities, heart effects, and unwanted pieces left from making CJC-1295. The group didn't back adding it to the 503A list, the federal list of raw ingredients those pharmacies may use.
- Sport. WADA is the world sport drug-testing body. It bans CJC-1295 at all times under its growth-hormone rule [9].
- DAC or no-DAC. Reports from people often mix up the forms, and those reports aren't trial proof. The days-long findings in [3] came from DAC. Half of the no-DAC form leaves in about 30 minutes.
- Too few people and too little time. Human tests have been small and early. No large trial shows a health gain, and no long human trial settles safety for you.
Higher blood readings didn't show people felt better
CJC-1295 is the longer-lasting half of the CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin pair. Healthy men kept natural growth-hormone bursts while the level between bursts and IGF-1 stayed higher [11]. That proves a blood change. It doesn't show that the men slept better, healed faster, or lived longer.
Tesamorelin is the nearest approved peptide, or small protein string, of this kind. Fair trials tested people with HIV-associated fat build-up [1]. Those findings belong to tesamorelin and those patients, not to CJC-1295 or to you. CJC-1295 still lacks such a trial. The comparison page keeps that line clear.
